There is a new swim school in town! Water Wings Swim School in La Verne will open soon. Water Wings offers many swim activities. The classes at Water Wings help your child learn more about swimming and are taught by trained employees. All the classes are taught in an indoor salt-water pool. When you attend swim class on a rainy day, you can dip into a nice warm, cozy pool.
If you’d like a private or a group lesson, it is 30 minutes. Students will learn many helpful skills. When the swimmer attends one-on-one practice, they always engage in a better learning process. Swim team classes are 60-90 minutes depending on how advanced a swimmer is. Winter or summer, group lessons are always available.
The swimmer\’s skill level will determine the classes he or she is enrolled in, whether it’s putting their head in the water for the first time or learning how to do a stroke. Even the greatest swimmer can always achieve a higher skill set from taking a class. Simple classes might not seem worthwhile, but they can be a big deal when a swimmer is trying to win a first place medal.
Water Wings Swim School offers more than just swimming lessons. They also offer PE classes, summer camp classes, and swim meets for the whole family. The PE classes could be perfect for homeschool families. The Water Wings PE class happens once a week for 60 minutes. They have highly trained instructors who will work on the swimmer’s stroke speed, endurance, and technique. Homeschool groups can join a class together with their friends.
Many kids are very competitive. To have fun with their competitiveness, Water Wings holds swim meets. They race against their classmates and try their best to win. It’s a good way to have fun and enjoy swimming. All of their swimmers will receive a ribbon and a high five whether they win or lose.
Water Wings started in 2003 at a private school in Las Vegas, Nevada called the Merryhill private school, founded by Avi and Tracy Shafshak. They said, “We believe that a year-around approach to swimming reinforces all the skills needed to become a relaxed and confident lifelong swimmer. Our program recommends to most of our clients to come in once or twice a week in a small group setting, and that they do this on a year-round basis. This consistent and continuous exposure to the water is the key to making swimming an enjoyable and beneficial part of your family\’s lives.”
The new location in La Verne is located at the corner of Foothill and Wheeler, next to the Sprouts Farmers Market. It is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in early 2025. When finished it will feature a 3-lane, 25 meter lap pool kept at a cozy 89°. Interested parents can find more information at waterwingsswimschool.com.
