Interview with My Grandpa

My grandpa\’s name is Mario Morfin.  He was really poor when he was young.  His brother went off to fight in World War II, and Mario and his mother had to say goodbye to him.  He said he was lonely when his brother left for the army and he didn\’t have anyone to play with his toys.  His dream job was becoming a firefighter, but his first job was at a gas station at the age of 16.    Mario’s favorite sport was gymnastics, and he competed in that sport for 2 years in high school.  He was interested in the band because he loves music and having fun.  His favorite place he performed at was at a club called Mister Mike’s.  His professional job was construction and painting.

After World War II ended he joined the army.  At bootcamp, he worked out in the mornings.  His job in bootcamp was as a cook.  The hardest thing he did at the army was working out and cleaning up after he cooked.  His least favorite thing about his jobs was cleaning up.  His favorite thing to do was painting houses.  After he left the army he dated a woman named Connie, but they eventually broke up.

He married my grandma, Francis, around 25 years old.  He became a professional house painter and worked in that trade for a long time.  After years of marriage, Grandpa and Francis eventually divorised.  Grandpa was by himself for many years.  Then one day, Connie’s sister found Grandpa on FaceBook and she helped them get back together.  He met up with Connie after 35 years and now they are now dating again.

My grandpa had led a crazy of twists and turns, and through it all he stayed upbeat and happy.  Today he is an important part of our family and we love him a lot.
