Christmas Gift Ideas

With Christmas just around the corner, we here at the Pathfinder Times, thought it might be helpful for our readers to have a list of some of the hottest gifts available this holiday season.  We’ve even conveniently organized it into Girls’, Boys’, and Younger Kids’ categories.

Girls

  • Skincare – Let’s face it (see what I did there?), teenagers have skin issues and teenage girls love skincare products.
  • Perfume – Because girls like to smell good.  It’s science.
  • Jewelry – Writing as a girl myself, I can attest to the fact that jewelry is cute, matches your clothes, and gives you that extra spark that sets your outfit apart from the crowd.
  • Pop Snap Camera – We’re only teenagers once and we love to take pictures to help us preserve our memories.  Phone cameras are convenient if you have a phone and the battery isn’t dead. However, the compact camera format is making a huge comeback.  At about $20 it’s a no-brainer stocking stuffer.
  • Clothes – Because, of course!  Jeans, sweaters, shirts and shorts are all perfect gifts for any girl.

Boys

  • Shoes – These days, boys are just as obsessed with shoes as girls are, maybe more!  Whether you go stylish or functional, shoes make great gifts for boys.
  • Hats – According to the boys I surveyed, they like hats! There are hats for all tastes, be it sports, games, movies, music or even blank!
  • Dirt Bikes – My extensive research revealed that boys like bikes, especially dirt bikes.  Electric bikes are very hot right now, but even manual pedal-powered is better than walking.
  • Headphones – My research also revealed the need for headphones, and the Bose brand was particularly popular.
  • Drones – Unsurprisingly, boys are also drawn to buzzing, flying, remote controlled, video broadcasting drones.  There are a variety of models that can fit any budget.

Younger Kids

  • Clothes – Little kids wear out their clothes and need new ones all the time.  Christmas is an ideal opportunity to stock up their wardrobe.  I’m sure this recommendation comes as no surprise to parents and a great disappointment to kids.
  • Books – As homeschool families, books are always on the gift list, even if the kids didn’t put them there.
  • Plushies – Stuffies, poofies, lovies, cuddlies, meemowes, whatever you call them, these soft, lovable toys are a perennial favorite.
  • Coloring Books – An often overlooked item, coloring books can offer hours of amusement and alleviate boredom.
  • Games – There has been a very real resurgence in the interest, marketing and variety of games lately.  Probably due to the popularity of Kickstarter games, the innovation in board games, card games and table-top roleplaying games has exploded.  Really, this item could be in every age category, even for adults, but the variety in new kids games makes this a perfect choice for the hard to buy for youngsters.
